My first Android Game : YaMeMo

Postby [FnG] PurplePalouf » Wed May 16, 2012 12:29 pm

Hi guys, sorry to come here to advertise my app like this (after being off so long), but it's hard to get relevant feedback on usual Android forums and I thought FnG would be a perfect place to get friendly feedback about a game !
Here I go:

My game YaMeMo is a remake of the classic memory game (find pairs of matching cards), but comes with additional game modes :
- the classic match 2 mode is called DUO
- there is a TRIO mode where you have to match 3 cards instead of two (much more challenging than it seems)
- there is a VERSUS mode where you play in turns against one of the bots
The game uses a combo system for scoring, which hopefully will have you play again to beat your highscore !
There are five themes and more are coming.

So if you have an Android smartphone, and a couple of minutes to test it, I'd really appreciate some feedback. And if you like it, rate it ! tell your friends ! etc.

I did everything myself including graphics so feedback is welcome on every part of the game. Read more on my blog.

Thanks a lot !

I just played the game for a few minutes and I must say it's very well made :)

Haven't tried all the options, but I was reminded that 6x6 is very big and very difficult to play Memory on :P
The TRIO option is quite a lot of fun and I think the combo system and highscores help give it a replay value like you said.

All in all, nice work :)

I am uncertain about what a smart phone is ...

A smart phone for me would tell everyone to "go away and leave me alone" although maybe the wording would be different.

So I've not tried this, but I congrads on completing something! :cheerleader:

Also I have an idea for a phone app which could make Millions but I would have to kill you if I told you what it was... :bedrime:

Hi !
Thanks Jinx-D and Lambik for the kind comments!

@Hanno don't worry keep your idea, I have one myself that will dethrone Angry birds, it will be a game with falling blocks that you have to arrange to make rows, and get a bonus for making 4 rows in one shot. (oops already told too much, I'll get my idea stolen)

I've played it for sometime, its fun to do :D
If I may suggest an other gametype,
where you get to see all the tiles for 30 seconds
then they get turned upside down.
You have to turn which ever you remember
till faulty or count how many wrongs before all turned.
I have no idea how hard it is to code an app,
maybe I should try it too some day soon :D

This will definitely be game mode number 5... Game mode number 4 is in development and should be out in next release (hopefully in about a week). I'll keep the details secret until then !

Thanks a lot for the feedback !

Coding an app is not very difficult (need to know java + one or two tutos). The hard part is to get your app downloaded, I'm still trying different promotion media but not so successful until now.

Finally got arround to playing it and really liked it, also my Girlfriends little brother has special needs and he really liked it and seemed to be of genuine help as it got him concentating and learning.

The different themes area nice idea and work well depending on who is playing, I liked the animals, he liked the space invaders (which all looked very similar to me - I was rubbish at them) The different grid options is also a nice touch, I didn't find any bugs although I have notplayed extensivly. My only suggestion is a purely cosmetic one. It would be nice if combos were rewarded with more intense graphics and fire works (similar the Jewels or something where it all goes a bit mental when you do well) - or at least having the phone vibrate a bit when you match pairs. Just my opinion and I know it is just a layer of polish which doesn't add anything to the actual gameplay experience.

Great job either way and matching 3 is so much more difficult than I expected!
