Bring It On UT3!

Postby [FnG] Cannon » Thu Oct 18, 2007 9:03 pm

Further to lots of hair pulling and frustration while trying to play UT3 comfortably and also not being an impulsive person at all [NOT].

The bullet was bitten, I checked and was on Santas's "Nice" list and dove straight in there.

8800GTS 320Mb

Looks nice and I assume it comes with a PSU (not mentioned). Is it pre-built or do you have to get the old screwdriver out?

Lol, Yeah there close enough, to be honest though everyone knows theres al;ways a risk with fleabay, but at that price I dont really care as past experience has been good. Present pc has been running well from ebay for 3 years although the 3.0ghz P4 looks decidedly tired on UT3.

If it doesnt go wrong in the first 6 months then there a excellent chance itll last for years trouble free.

Im delighted, excited, and cant wait.

Those ASUS boards are awesome, i've got myself a M2N32-SLI DELUXE. It's lovely :) Easily runs my AMD X2 6000+ at 3.24Ghz instead of 3Ghz.

Also, you won't be disappointed with the 8800. It overclocks nicely (in most peoples' experiences i've read) and it's massive! I could hardly fit it in the case.

yay for speedy cannon.

I wouldnt of even thought of looking for a PC on Ebay.

I've had problems with work recently and Ebay.
I need a boss key on my PC >
At the moment each time my boss comes in I have
to switch windows to some Porn before he realises I was
looking at ebay stuff :-)

But then I'm only bidding on Lego.

Ooh sweetness!
Just ordered myself a new rig too ... so I can share in anticipation!
A minor error in my order tough, I order the Q9450 without knowing that it can take till 12 januari before that gets released ... :s (So I kindly mailed them telling them they could change it for a Q6600 if it may indeed include over 2 months of waiting)

anyways - You'll be kicking butt with that I guess!

Don't know about that Paranoid, but at least I can watch my own ass being kicked in high quality :P

So are you are going for the Q6600 now or are you waiting for the new cpu?

ZOMG!

Max this Max that and its rock steady @63fps and looks awesome, despite the 36 hours i spent getting things going, I wont say buying from ebay was worth it, perhaps a challenge and Im certainly more intimate with my baby now.

Im a very proud daddy at present IT ROCKS.

Although no blue led tubes etc I may post a couple of pics as ive tidied up the wiring like a good electrical eng but i desperately need a 22" monitor to compliment things.....

Santa if your listening...

Neon tubing is the sign of a weak and fragile mind ;-)

If you mean a 22" TFT mate then that'll be a considerable learning curve from your, I imagine, current CRT setup. TFT's are really quite nice but not the screen of choice for your FPS mentalists - ghosting, lag and poor black definition are not ideal for UT for instance.

Anyway, that's an entirely separate discussion :-)

Were not very "sit on the fence" this week Mags are we ... j/k :P

Already have the 17" tft mate, have a 22" tft in kitchen and switching between the two makes the 17" look weenie.
