I like them, Hanno! The hairs / spines show up very nicely in both.

What did you do for the background? Is it a down-saturation? Positional flash? How did you get the nice black background?

Succy = Succulent ;-)

I made a 3/4 box and glued a black velvet material to it, it absorbs the light pretty well. So no post processing, apart from cloning out the odd loose bit of fluff ;-)

Ohhh! OK - that explains the slight 'fuzzy' look in the bottom left corner of the 2nd picture.

Very cool technique! Shall remember that one for the future. :)

Thanks. But these are pretty easy to take, so too many people out there doing it, no money to be made unless you are really really good.

Ah the wonder of digital cameras, if you take a 100 pictures
you stand a chance of the odd one coming out okay.

My 4 year old camera is up to 9600 shots taken.

Taken by my mom's husband, at a concert we were at, a few weeks ago. This is Mark Janssen, the brain / driving force behind Epica.

nice shots there, they might be somewhat generic as you said hanno, but they look fine, nice colors and such, they definatly do the trick.

As for the concert shot, it's good! I like the smoke hanging around works well with that athmosphere, and thanks to that in combination with the noise, it almost has something paint'ish to it, well, not quite the way to put it, but it works for me...
