Yes, they seem to be nice slightly sub-performance, slightly sub-price cards compared to the GT. ATI cards were always well known for out-performing the Nvidia cards in the AA and AF stakes. It'll be interesting to see how that shapes up (I didn't read the links - I read this elsewhere, too - so sorry if this is already covered!)

It's about time ATI re-grew a pair and stood up to Nvidia again. Competition is good for the consumer:-)

According to Explodey, there's a guy on Overclock.net who's got a 3800 series ATI card scoring 13k on 3DMark 05 compared to the stock 8800GT's 15k, and the ATI card's about $50 cheaper.

Um, isn't that what "bang per buck" typifies? The GT is a better, faster card but you pay slightly more for it.

The ATI card is not as fast but is cheaper.

Either the eye or the wallet decides and both choices are good :-)
