Home Projects

Postby [FnG] Sphinx » Mon Dec 03, 2007 5:58 pm

I have been inspired by Nessie and his table and wondered how many others undertake projects at home either large or small.

So to start things off here are a couple of mine.

1. A small bookcase to take the telephone and a few books

Image

2. Our chicken hut

Image

So post up those projects :)

Great idea!... I'll put up my table here, just for completeness' sake... :D

Image

I'll also post the link to a short slideshow here, in the (very near) future to show the different steps... :)
With kind regards, Mathijs

Um - DD and I were chatting about things we make. We weren't exactly thinking of woodwork (although I believe DD is a very competent carpenter!), more like sewing / knitting type stuff.

May we join this thread with home-made projects too? :D

PS: Very nice, Spinksy, but where is the wardrobe you've been promising me for four and a half years??

My father and I built a picnic table for our cottage a couple years ago. I was finally able to apply my rudimentary math skills to a practical problem as there were quite a few complex angle cuts to make.

We also built the deck it sits on the year before, as well as redoing the interior walls in tongue and groove cedar panelling.

On a serious note, I'm very impressed by the proper responses. Might even add my own in a bit :-)
Me? The 13th Duke of Wybourne? Here? In a sixth form girl's dormitory? At three o'clock in the morning? With my reputation? What were they thinking of?

Nice stuff, That table looks fantastic Malvos.

I'm not sure about Spinx's Henhouse, but I saw one advertised
in paper the other day that looked the same, going for £500000
property prices are really out of hand here.

What a lot of skilled people.

If we coordinated I'm sure we could take over the world...
(or galaxy in Everlongs case)

*evil laugh*

I raise you one Garden room I built 5 years ago (6m x 3m with decking floors and decking workbench) full of cacti.

before:

After:

But the cacti have all grown hit the ceiling, and been chopped downseveral
times since then, I'll have to find a more recent pic.

and

Then when Erin was born we realised we had nowhere to
stick her damn buggy, so I had to throw up a porch
in rapid order> its solid as a rock though:

and

More boringly I fitted the kitchen and bathroom my self.

I hate DIY and I'm always drilling through parts of myself
or setting fire to my feet. But I get the job done.

I am pretty good at that Hanno too, except mine tend to include electricity. A few years ago, the first day of our holiday in fact, I had popped round to the neighbours (cant remember why) and whilst down there, I picked up their extension cable, which turned out to be a home made one .... after about 30 seconds or so of jumping up and down in the air I managed to get the extension cable out of my hand, and was left with 3 holes in my hand.

For some reason his extension cable had 2 male plugs on it, and the other was still plugged into the mains.

I could not hold anything for about 2 weeks (our entire holiday).

Got to laugh though :)

Sphinx

btw - you have done an excellent job on the things you have posted up
