Thanks! One last question for today. The guild is aligned with Luxon, does this mean I can't or will be less effective if I want to farm kurczik?

I think there is a skill or two that I need for some builds and they are from that faction so thought I'd check.

If so I guess I can abandon guild lol, since I doubt anyway is actually playing anymore.

No, it's just a matter of convenience. You can farm Kurzick faction all you want.
You just can't redeem it in our guild hall — as I said on the previous page, you'd have to go to House Zu Heltzer.
(no big deal to me, click on some town or hit the Guild Hall button. meh)

Well, Nihilist is certainly playing. I see several names in there, I guess working on HoM stuff. (Hit g and you can see when folks last logged on)
I'd be happy to group up with you and Nihilist sometime and help you get places/beat things.
(pretty sure I've done most of it by now)

I have a bunch of tomes. Will be happy to contribute them.

Also, EP, I assume you're looking just to get the 30 points in the HoM. You can get a lot of that without working so hard. Getting most of the minis and heroes and weapons will get you a lot of the way, and that's not so hard to just buy.

Also, I know an exploit that will allow you to farm massive amounts of Luxon faction while AFK. I showed that to Chokky a couple of years ago - I believe he used it to max out that title.

The skills for Kurz and Luxon are exactly the same in effect, only the skill's icon is different.
So if you see a kurz skill in a build you can unlock the same skill under luxon.

Skills are unlocked per character only but through the use of "tomes" you can transfer a skill (once unlocked) to another character same for Elites.
The heroes on the other hand have access to every skill you've unlocked through any character, so you could run Sabway on a newly created character if you already have a character running it.

@Rampy - Thanks alot.

@ Nihilist & Eve: I don't want to speak for Torgo, but if he's talking about the glitched Zos Shivros Channel challenge quest where you get points for time you keep the NPC dood alive, that was patched in early 2010 and no longer works.

The glitch was you'd lead the dood under a bridge away from harm, and he would always get stuck there.
So you could go AFK and the Luxon points would just roll in over time, since the dood was safe under the bridge.
Dood doesn't get stuck any more.

Video of how this used to work.

Currently, the fastest known faction farms are:
Kurzick: repeatedly vanquishing Morostav Trail (known as Morostav Trail Speed Clear MTSC) ~20 mins for ~22K faction
Luxon: repeatedly vanquishing Mount Qinkai (known as Mount Qinkai Speed Clear MQSC) ~10 mins for ~10K faction

Decided just to go with my Dervish, I'll learn as I go along I guess.

If anyone has anything like a vampiric scythe upgrade, and/or defense I'd trade/buy. Also, I guess the 15% damage inscription either health above 50% or while enchanted.

Ugh, I should probably figure out this mess of a build I am using but for now with heroes it's not too bad anyway.

I'll probably try and craft some of the weapons and armor you can get statues from, so if anyone has any spare material for that I'd appreciate it. If not no worries.

Dervishes have been extensively retooled by ANet, and they are actually quite powerful now.

[Build=Wile Bill's Cuisinart;OgGjkqrK7SjemXfbaXNX7gibieA]

(plus stat boni from your hat and armor)

^That will tear THREE complete new assholes in anything you touch with it.

Cool, I've been using most of that now and it works well with large groups of doodz. Just using an interrupt attack instead of one of the kurzick skills since I don't have rep yet.

I had been simply alternating an enchantment with a rip enchantment attack to keep triggering dmg, but this seems to work well for just auto-attack buffage.

Only one problem, and this leads us to the question of the day (sponsored by the letter K), can you actually run from the starting area of Cantha to the Luxon/Kurzick faction towns? Was hoping to not have to go through the entire campaign or much of it just to farm faction on my Derv to get those two skills.

Lol, my dervish had "welcome to cantha" as his only quest there. I must hate myself because i went through the Vizunah square mission, ah memories! And to make things worse, even though this game's been out for 50 years, I get stuck with another group that has a first timer!!! So got the apology after it ended for having to watch that 94.7 hour cinematic at the end...

For other comic relief, I was trying to get all the skills for the 3 necro sabway build, and kept changing my secondary profession from necro to rit over and over as I discovered I had to buy or captured whatever elite skills. Lol, at the end of the night I realized the newish drop down that you can go back to secondaries you already bought. Had been going to command outpost and paying the dude 500 gold each time...

There are no vendors that sell weapon upgrades right? It's still a matter of sitting in lion's arch or whatever to pay for that perfect staff wrap, or weapon prefix?

You can't 'run' in Cantha or Nightfall like you could in Tyria. They have locked doors on certain mission towns where you must complete the main storyline mission to continue (not everywhere, but enough so it screws you up).

But you can grind out Lux faction right now by doing Alliance battles (see NPC dood yelling about fighting in guild hall). Or, once you get them on your map, by doing the PvP towns Jade Arena (escort the turtles) or Fort Aspenwood (assault/defend the Kurz base).
(The MTSC and MQSC mentioned earlier are the fastest ways, but not the only ways to get faction piling up.)
Also, make sure you always take the priest bonus/faction bonus anytime you go outside, anywhere.
That stuff all counts toward titles/special skills, so every little bit helps.

And since HoM is about titles, you're really going to want to play through Cantha anyway — Protector of Cantha is one of the fatest, easiest titles to get (you only gotta beat 13 missions with Masters reward). In fact, all the 'Protector' titles from playing through the mission tracks are pretty essential.

Maybe you should check your other toons that did Cantha, see what their faction situation is (H key), see if you can grind it up quicker on one of them?
You may already have Protector on one of them. You had an ele that finished all three campaigns, didn't you?
(that's a big head start on HoM stuff, and you may be surprised how many titles they almost have, due to playing through)

LOL 2x! Oh no! Yeah, it's a one-time fee. I'm surprised the bastich would actually keep taking your gold.

Yes, no vendors for the upgrades. But, they have dropped now for 6+ years, so they are all really cheap and most all of us have 2-3 storage panes full of them. I can hook you up with some stuff, as I'm sure Torgo probably can.

Btw, getting back to Tomes — don't know if you're aware of Hard Mode. (very important)
Regular tomes drop from monsters in Hard Mode only.
Elite Tomes drop from Hard Mode bosses only. (Bosses only drop tomes of their profession: Monk boss drops monk tomes, etc.)
Hard Mode is turned on by clicking the little red helmet in your party panel before you go outside or into a mission.

Hard Mode is of course more difficult (faster monsters, more health), but the drops and money are always better too.
Be careful mixing up Normal/Hard mode on missions — they are two different title tracks, btw. (do all normal for one title; do all HM for another title)

hth,

EDIT to add: Btw, you may be interested in Embark Beach — this is a new special town they added that lets you go to any mission you have unlocked access to, anywhere in the game. It's to help people group up with the dwindling player number. You might get a better PUG there? (I didn't use this much, as it came after I had stuff done) It has every possible NPC you could need.

I had finished Cantha on a couple of toons, but if my dervish wants a faction skill, the only way is for him to get to the quartermaster or whatev right?

I can get the protector title by finding the toon that did the most, or if there is no other way to get the skills for luxon/kurzcik, then I might as well play through on my derv.

One thing that I am not understanding, is that all the hero builds I see, indicate putting a minor run on hero headgear. Is this simply to mitigate the -health aspect?

Or is there some mechanics with the additional +1 that comes with whatever attribute you choose?

Just tryin to figure out why one wouldn't at least use a major, or now that things are cheap, superior. Seems like vitae everywhere else with a vigor rune is the other accepted norm, with survivor insignias from most of the builds I've seen.

Ah, this edit wasn't there a moment ago. So does this mean my dervish can just skip all the missions and go to one that is closest to the factions area and start from there? If so then that's a great help.

Oh, and I guess I should go back to the profession dude and just pay once for each secondary to save me time later on lol.
