Re: GW 2 beta!

Postby [FnG] Unholy Eve » Fri Apr 27, 2012 4:15 pm

@ sphinx: I'm not sure about the bit that starts with a V and ends with an I

@ Hanno: good chance he's been downloading the beta and its set to "auto play" or he's sneaked into the game :O

Doesn't start until 8pm GMT. 9pm for most of you guys and gals :)

The weekend beta doesn't open until 2pm Central US time, so I doubt he is logged in yet. :)
Have you blamed Kril lately?

Okidokie - if any of you guys would like, Fudge is going to have their Mumble server open to anyone and everyone. Feel free to come, bring your friends, etc etc. Figured I'd post this here since I don't know if you guys still have your Teamspeak server.

Here are the instructions on how to join us:

First, go get this:
http://mumble.sourceforge.net/

It's a download / install just like Ventrilo, Teamspeak, etc. It's just way, way better than either of those. :p

Next, set up a connection for:
Label: (Whatever you want)
Address: fdg.murmur.nfoservers.com
Port: 5720
Username: (Your Character Name)

There will be a place to put in a password. Type in teenagemutantninjasquirtle

If you don't see a spot for a password, instead: Once you click "OK" then "Connect" it will say "Invalid username and password" thats when you enter the password: teenagemutantninjasquirtle

We would suggest going through their Audio Setup Wizard because it will help you fix up your microphone. It's a bit annoying at first, but the payoff is huge. Mumble auto-equalizes volume across all users, so that you don't have to deal with one person being very quiet while the others are ear-deafeningly loud. It uses the audio setup wizard to help do that, so it's worth it. :)

Once you're done, come on into the GW2 channel and join the party!! :D Also, we'll auth you FnGers so that you never need a password again while we're at it.

Hooray for GW2!

Also - Fudge has decided on Moladune, apparently. As best I could tell, the decision process was "Ronkdar said so, and the rest of us were just waffling, so Moladune it is."

OK, thanks Sundae.

I'm in as well — in-game name: Da Kril

NOTE: Some links showing what big gaming clans/guilds will be on which server.
@ Reddit. . .@ GW@ Guru

Combining info from the two: Vabbi will have on it:
DVDF
Atop Beacon's Perch (PvE)
4chan/vg/
mmorpg.pl

I'm fine with DVDF — not so thrilled about 4chan, myself. Thoughts?

For Moladune (Marmaduke?) in the U.S.
Adult Content Guild (PvX)
Fudgies Clan

Btw, the Cold Black Eyes clan (CBE), a U.S. guild, are going to use Yak's Bend. fyi
Good gamers and nice people there. (Yak's will also be the GW2 Guru hub)

Any suggestions other than Vabbi?
I'll go wherever, just wanted to throw that info out there,

Soon ALL movies will just be Liam Neeson yelling into a phone.

4chan/vg/ will be okay, honestly. You'll get catchphrases and stupid, but the real troublemakers are in /b/.

I was going to try to avoid SA's group as well, but there are just too many of them. They're going to be in nearly every server.

Seems ANet is recycling everything ATM, unless they're back up again.

I'm on Holy Molydoon with teh FDGies. (During the times I can actually connect. My daughter had a great time with her pink-and-purple Charr Mesmer earlier this evening, though.)

At some point, ANet will implement guesting, so that people can play together in PvE regardless of home world.

To sum up the day's events:
42!

Travel note: you can move around the world from within the big cities: look for Asura gates.
(magenta vortexy/hurricane-lookin' symbols)

Waypoints are good: you want to 'learn' (walk past) as many as you can get.
HOWEVER, they cost gold to use, so make sure you have cash on you, or you can get stuck walking across Texas.

(as Kahbouter will confirm)
Be careful about dying too many times without repairing your armor -- it will break (disappear).
After an Ettin clubbed my skull in, I reappeared at a waypoint with no pants. (it was not a glitch)

Got to lvl 10 with my engineer. Starting to get a reasonable grasp on how to play.
(Err, at least, with the skills I've unlocked.) Seems to be pretty damn fun, so far.
I killed several things in their face. So that's good. :rockin:

Look for little chevron icons on the map that say "Earn a Skill Point" to help you get skills.
Very useful.

Bedtime now, :bedrime:
--kril out-- :partyhat: <--- 'cause it's a party!

P.S. Great fun being back online with you doodz -- although we didn't actually,
we were getting pretty darn close to grouping up and getting some fings all broken...
:woot: :woot: :woot:

Today's colour is black.

Managed to get a few hours in this morning, opened up some of the map, saw the sites and helped out in some of the events.

All in all its been good so far only come across 1 bug so far too.

I would ask for screenies but I'm too frightened Kril would post himself with no pants!

@ Hanno: Indeed. :spruce:

One interesting/funny/annoying thing — as I've gotten better pieces of armor,
my toon's appearance is shambolic/horrible with all the ugly, mismatched pieces.
(going for the better stats, of course, but the resulting 'look' is beyond barf-inducing)

Goals for today: 1. finish the stupid quest where I wandered across the edge of the 'instance' and got thrown out.
(watch out for the diagonal red hash marks on your compass. do NOT go there. oops)

2. Party up with FnGers. :woot:

3. Get them killed. :yahoo: :np:

How odd.

When I load up GW 2, the splash screen basically says 'great news, your all ready for the beta'. I haven't pre purchased the game but I signed up to the beta and got the code and download link to the client, so I assumed that was fine.

But this was posted on the official GW 2 forum:

Fromthe Account Support forum:

If you are getting this error message — 9:4:5:1093:101 — then you are not a Beta Weekend Event Participant.

You must have pre-purchased the game in order to participate in the BWE. You are not automatically a participant because you were a tester in a previous event. You must purchase the game. Available sources for the game as of this hour are Gamestop and BestBuy.com.

How many people here have pre-purchased the game?
