Black Ops 2?

Postby [FnG] Lazz » Tue Nov 13, 2012 8:57 pm

Hi all

So is anyone getting this game? I didn't get the previous black ops, nor did I bother with the previous modern warfare game, however reviews for black ops 2 have been positive, with a couple of sites saying that its the biggest leap/change in the series since the original Modern Warfare.

I haven't got it yet, but I may get it if there are enough people on here to play with. We had some fun times in modern warfare but I know much of that got killed off when it was announced that one of the MW games wasnt going to have servers. I assume this game does? (Ive been out of the loop for a while)

I'm waiting on reviews/price to come down.

But from the old black ops thread:
Lambik/Tim have preordered.
Eve is waiting to see.
Rampy thinks its too expensive at the moment.

I guess the servers will be paid for 3rd party ones again like the last Black ops.

I've just ordered Blops 1 and have Borderlands 2 coming any day now.

I refuse to pay £40-45 for any game let alone a CoD game, once it hits £20 I'll snap it up. Unless peer preasure tells me other wise.

Not had a chance to play Borderlands 2 yet, spending a lot of time playing Anno 2070 at the moment.

How does the servers work of Blops 2? Is it dedi like CoD4 or are we stuck with what they give us?

What edition have people bought? Standard, Standard+Nuke town, Steelbook or Hardened there's just so many to choose from.

Oh mighty Lambik, share with us your wisdom.

I am weak. I just bought Black Ops 2 (for the xbox)...

I always love the COD campaigns, and MW3 aside, I have always enjoyed the multiplayer.

So I now have this and Halo 4 taking up most of my gaming time. Fun days!

The game setup is much like L4D2, you can add friends, then create a party up to 18 players. (or 4 when playing Zombie mode, maybe even 2 times 4, when playing teams vs teams vs Zombie)
It determines the 'server'-client to ping and bandwidth, so 1 player out of them 18 is the server(so no dedicated servers).
From history perspective that didn't do to well, but apparently they've tweaked it, and besides an occasional lagg spike it's good playable.

Comparing the gameplay, it's more rush like then we play CoD4 or BF3,
hide and sneak has lesser meaning imho, where in BF3 and CoD4 the camouflage really worked, here you are more visible (at least the maps I played)
Despite all this, they haven't fixed the knive kills :skull: So Eve will be a Gappy Bunny, hopping around plunging knives in poor souls. :slaphead:

The games I have played were setup through the automatic match maker, so not sure when we of FnG team up, the same playable experience will happen,
I might have been teamed up with just players located nearby(low ping/high bandwidth).
The fact remains one can setup a 'private' match, which is sometimes nicer, then play with the 'uber-1337-kids' who will blast us oldies into oblivion in no time.

I haven't been able to scroll through the weapons, and all the in game advantages you may gain when leveling, but I take that will be much the same as in BF3.

Is it worth buying the game ? Can't tell yet, as I've played it to little.
I will probably regret it buying it, as Tim will most likely out level me in no time....that evil @#^%$@#^Son-of-a-Yasmean#$%^#$!@.

I will keep you posted on my experience about this game.

Bought it played it and rather enjoying it :D
Much better for PC then for the Xbox and its fiddly controls, only played a few multi player matches so far and they've been quiet good.
Still getting used to where I put all the buttons on my nostromo and mouse but seems simple enough.
I urge you all to purchase or ask Santa nicely for a copy for Xmas, the sooner you buy the more time you have with me fumbling with the knife before I get too used to it again.

I also recommend Borderlands 2, its been quite good and managed to co-op a bit with hanno so far and it's in the steam sale until the 27th :p hint hint wink wink.

Have to disagree with you there Eve. This is one game that i far prefer on the console. You don't get 24 player spam fests at 150% speed.

Interesting opinions.....

It certainly looks good. The reviews for it seem very positive. Judging by all your impressions, its pretty good, but the worry I have is that I think it would seem fresh for a couple of weeks, but then become same old same old.

It's had mixed reviews across the board, but it is a good game to play and 100x better than MW3.

Hopefully this will be accepted as a Wednesday night game to pick up.

Reviews have been very mixed. but i'm happy to it a go as soon as I have 'negotiated' my xmas bonus.

I have enjoyed our revisits to COD4/UT2004 but I honestly think after a few more evenings of those I will be
'meh' about them again, something fresh is always nice.
