Heh. It's used by the Navy to clean ships, that's where the name comes from. The gel consistency is so it sticks to the side of hulls.

[FnG] N!MRoD wrote:cant help but to think its very toxic, i would even be reluctant to touch it.
:-P Well, you should probably try to avoid drinking naval jelly, but it's just phosphoric acid in gel medium. If you've ever had any kind of cola (Coke, Pepsi, etc.), you've already been drinking it (in much smaller concentration). They put phosphoric acid in all of those sodas to acidify them or make them 'tangy.'

Dentists use it to etch or 'rough up' your teeth so that fillings will stay in better.

Let's face it — we've all been drinking Naval Jelly our whole lives, sort of. :chin:

There maybe a small difference between the stuff from amazon en de real Naval Jelly. The amazon stuff changes the rust in a kind of coating, that's why I know it from cars...great for tackling litlle rustspots in places noone sees them.

The naval stuff seems to take the rust straight of (if i understood correctly :) )

The edge is on the axe and I gave it a practise swing this morning.. pictures will follow later since I'm a bit incapacitated right now ..:( (no nothing to do with the axe swinging, just one of those things that just pops up every once in a while with me :) )

Thats interesting actually, would this be safe to use in a bathroom to deal with humidity in the walls?

No idea, but if you look at their website they only sell it to business. I suspect due to the chemicals involved
during the treating being mighty unpleasant. Plus it is pretty expensive.
Looks useful though.

That indeed interesting  , I am thinking about application of the helmet visor (not sure if it's transparent enough).
Added to that, the motorbike might be easier to clean when that Ultra-dry stuff is applied.
I will be keeping an eye out for this...thanks :)

since it's summer and bloddy hot1 here in the Netherlands, I've finally decided to add an extention to my bushcraft kit, I been thinking about it for so long....

what?! you say?

Well I live in the Netherlands and to be honest if you walk out of your front door and dont pay attention, you will end up in a water filled ditch one way or the other...so the rabbit got himself a Canoe..a foldable Canoe. It's called and ally (i got the smalles version) and de-constructed it is the size of a big backpack. Further more its extremely light (just 15 kilo's)..so now besides travel by land i've opened up travel by water :brow:

Somehow it's strangely satisfying being able to paddle an open Canoe in a straight line without having to switch sides ;)

pix..of course..

The 2nd and 3rd pics are me practising various trokes and yes..thats a lifevest..common sense when you tend to spend most of your time alone on the water.

PS: all packed up ..this is what the Canoe looks like..

Nice toy Rampy.

And as to the lifevest. Safety first - I wear one in the bath.

It's HOT HOT HOT here as well. Four weeks of sunshine without a drop of rain - this is not a typical British summer!
Although Erin breaks up for her holiday next week, so it will start raining soon enough.

thats cool Rampy, lots of fun peddling!
Hmm I still would like to do some cannoeing this summer.

And Hanno, you must have one big bathtub , if it is that unsafe in it. Do you have strong currents in it? :p

It's been a while..last weekend i had another trip into the French forests and though I though nothing would beat my last solo trip in may 2012...i was wrong.

as usual, all the pix you can find here: clicky

This trip was not about finding certain locations but more about scouting an area..
